DemoLas

Duration: 24 months, Start: October 2020

Academic project leader: Thomas Feurer, Institution: IAP Laser Physics, University of Bern. Industrial project partner: 8photonics - Manuel Ryser

8photonics offers a standardized innovation platform for modular fiber optical systems, specifically fiber lasers. The modules include all standard fiber optical components, such as fiber mounts, polarization controllers, pump modules etc. The platform is open and can be combined with most commercial suppliers of free-space and fiber optics and opto-mechanics. The innovation platform allows for fast prototype design and shortens considerably time and effort from design to implementation.

Within the IPP we design and fabricate a number of demo modules for multiple purposes, e.g., to be displayed at exhibitions and to be offered as starter kits or as educational kits for undergraduate and graduate lab courses.
