Marie Curie Actions conference at ESOF 2012 - invitation to register

Date Mi, 11.07.2012 - So, 15.07.2012
Time
Location Dublin
Program We would like to invite the Marie Curie fellows in your COFUND project to attend the Marie Curie Actions satellite event at ESOF 2012. ESOF, the Euroscience Open Forum, is Europe’s largest general science meeting and is held every two years. In 2012 the event will take place in Dublin.

The Marie Curie Conference, which takes place on July 10th and 11th 2012, will offer fellows special opportunities to broaden their career perspectives and further exploit their potential as Marie Curie Fellows. The conference will include training sessions on how to access EC funding including presentations on Horizon 2020; patenting and how to write successful grant proposals. The main theme of the 2012 conference is communicating research and there will also be a series of workshops on the various aspects of communications including social media networking and speaking confidently to a non-scientific audience. Participants will also play an active role through poster sessions and short presentations on their research.

Please see the conference website at: http://esof2012.org/about/marie-curie-actions-conference-2012. The first time you visit the site you may be prompted to enter a password. The password is esof2012mc

All participants in this satellite meeting will be automatically registered to the ESOF conference (July 11-15, 2012). The joint participation fee of € 340 covering both the Marie Curie satellite event and the main ESOF is an eligible cost in the project. Any Marie Curie fellow wishing to attend should be allowed to participate to this event and the necessary budget made available to them. As with all other training events, the cost of participation should not be paid by the fellow. An 'early bird' reduction is available for those registering very quickly.

The conference provides important career development training and is a unique chance for the fellows to be trained in skills not usually offered by research institutes and which are nonetheless crucial for their career. It is a valuable opportunity to meet with other Marie Curie fellows they would not normally have the opportunity to meet. The fellows will also be able to meet with the staff of the Research Executive Agency who will be available to answer questions and to provide advice on future funding opportunities.

Please pass the information of this conference to the Marie Curie fellow in your project(s) and encourage them to register as soon as possible as places are limited and registration is on a 'first come - first served' basis.

In order to prepare for the networking aspect of the project all fellows will be invited to prepare a poster explaining their research for non-scientific audience. This year the poster session will be electronic only and the posters will be available in advance to allow the attendees to identify the fellows they wish to network with. Therefore, all registered attendees will be invited to upload a poster before the end of May.

Please note that parts of the conference may be video recorded.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your project officer or the designated contact persons listed on the conference website.

Looking forward to meeting your Marie Curie Fellows in Dublin.
