Program The Vibrational Spectroscopy conference brings together experimentalists and theoreticians working at the frontiers of modern vibrational spectroscopy. It focuses on spectroscopies that probe the structures, dynamics, reactivity, and environments of molecules in gases, clusters, aerosols, liquids, and solid materials, and at the interfaces between different phases. The conference covers a wide range of cutting-edge techniques based on observation or simulation of vibrational motions. These techniques span time-domain, frequency domain, spatially resolved, non-linear and multi-dimensional spectroscopies. The conference highlights the application of these techniques in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, medicine, the environment, and functional materials, as well as the development of theoretical and computer simulation methods to connect spectroscopic signatures to the motions of molecules and their interactions with their surroundings.

The conference will seek to advance the development and application of vibrational spectroscopy methods by bringing together practitioners from a range of research fields who share a molecular perspective of chemical structure, dynamics, and function. An emphasis on new research and open discussion will provide a unique forum for cross-fertilization of ideas from these different fields to stimulate new advances. The GRC is preceded by a Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) which encourages attendance of early career scientists, and therefore promotes interactions between emerging and established researchers. The objectives of the conference are to extend our understanding of how vibrational motions reveal detailed information about molecular systems ranging from small polyatomic molecules to biomolecules, liquids, and nanomaterials, and to explore applications which address societal challenges in energy, environmental, bio and medical sciences.
