Awards and Honors for 2013 - 2014

2014

Shana J. Sturla, Associate Professor at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology
is nominated for the third annual Chemical Research in Toxicology Young Investigator Award of the American Chemical Society. She will receive the award at the 248th ACS National Meeting in San Francisco / California (USA), in August 2014.  

Jennifer Rupp, SNSF Professor at the Department of Materials
and her research team received the ETH Spark Award 2014 for having developed a powerful and energy-efficient data storage device for mobile electronic devices.  

Silvia Dorn, Professor Emerita at the Department of Environmental Systems Science
received the Doron Prize 2014 endowed with CHF 100'000 for her seminal research work in Applied Entomology, which contributes significantly to a more sustainable world food system.
In addition, she was elected The C.V. Riley Lecturer 2014 at University of Missouri.

Stefanie Engel, Full Professor at the Department of Environmental System Sciences
has been awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Professorship for 2014.

Sonia Seneviratne, Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental Systems Science
was awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant in January 2014.

Juliana Sutanto, Assistant Professor at the Departement of Management, Technology and Economics
and her research collaborators received the prestigious INFORMS design science award 2013 for thie research paper on the solution for privacy-safe personalized offering.

Kristina Shea, Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering
has recently been elected (2013) as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

Silvia Dorn, Emeritus Professor at Department of Environmental Systems Science
To honor Silvia Dorn's worldwide impact on research, the Entomological Society of America (ESA) organized a special symposium at its annual meeting in November 2013 in Austin / Texas (USA).

Olga Sorkine-Hornburg, Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science
has recently received one of the 2013 Intel Labs European Early Career Faculty Awards.

Sarah Springman, Full Professor at the Departement of Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering
has recently been recognized with an Honorary Degree from the University of Bath, UK.

was awarded the Laser Institute of America 2013 Arthur Schawlow Award in October, 2013.

Paola Picotti, SNSF Professor at the Department of Biology
was awarded an ERC Starting Grant. In 2012 she was also awarded the ETH Latsis Prize.

Sabine Werner, Full Professor at the Department of Biology

Sara van de Geer, Full Professor at the Department of Mathematics
Since 2006 she has been a correspondent of the Dutch Royal Academy of Sciences. In 2012 she became a member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. She is President Elect of the Bernoulli Society as of August 2013, and will become President in 2015.

Sonia Seneviratne, Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental Systems Science
was awarded the 2013 James B. Macelwane Medal by the American Geophysical Union.
