New NCCR MUST Scientific Officer
He becomes the new scientific officer of the NCCR MUST network.
A short CV to get to know his background:
From 1981 to 1987 he studied chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. After working for one year as a research assistent at Genencor, in South San Francisco he returned to the University of Groningen and obtained a PhD in protein engineering and biochemistry (1994). After moving to the Institute of Biotechnology of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich, Switzerland he set up and managed an independent research group of 5-10 researchers, technicians and students at of the ETH. His research group focused on the biodegradation of oil components, on the microrganisms and enzymes involved in the biodegradation, and on biocatalysis using these microorganisms and enzymes, resulting in more than 50 peer reviewed publications and book chapters. Further tasks were institute and laboratory management, teaching and organising laboratory and lecture courses, managing the isotope laboratory, and managing the gas chromatography and mass spectrometry facilities.
