Program | This event will be held as a 1-week course of the "Enrico Fermi International Summer School Series", one of the most celebrated events of its kind, counting amongst its students and lecturers some of the most well-known names in physics such as Rabi, Townes, Schawlow, Bloembergen, Chu, Hänsch and many many others. The stimulating environment of the Enrico Fermi Summer School together with the beautiful and historical environment of Villa Monastero is well-known for leading to rich discussions which have opened up fundamentally new and important research directions. "Frontiers in Modern Optics" will include topics ranging from novel laser sources to disorder in optics, which will be dealt by top level experts in the respective fields (Bob Boyd; Demitri Christodoulides; Arnaud Couairon; Alex Gaeta; Michal Lipson; Goery Genty; Ulf Leonhardt; David Richardson; Guenter Steinmeyer; Thomas Udem and Miles Padgett) and an invited keynote speaker (Anton Zeilinger, see Flyer and Program). The scientific directors of the School, John Dudley and Daniele Faccio are happy to invite you to participate to the school selection process. Lectures will be at intermediate to advanced level, aimed at PhD students, early-career researchers and of course, all others interested in meeting leading experts and in such a wonderful environment. Since the attendee’s number is limited to 60, we invite you to apply early! The applicants are required to submit a 1000-character letter testifying their qualification, interest and adequate preparation to follow the courses. Furthermore, students are invited to present a poster during the school and are welcome to submit a 500-character abstract. |
